This may look like the interior of a movie set (the lighting was just perfect!), but it’s not… it’s one of two abandoned cabins we discovered in the Wind River Range of western Wyoming. And yes, the interiors were completely trashed; there were holes big enough to toss a cat through; the scat from various critters was scattered about; the glass in the window frames was long gone; wires hanging from the rafters, etc.
A close examination of the cabins revealed that they were all business; they had very spartan furnishings and no evidence of homely touches. However, they did come with a view… the Green River is visible in the background, through the empty window frame, and the mountains just beyond that.
Would I live there? In the warmer months, certainly! Though it’d be really rough living there in the winter, with the closest town of any size some 50 miles away.
