Six Miles From Nowhere

The only real town of any size is 17 miles away.  It’s six miles from the closest place to pick up mail.

One room.  It does have heat and electricity, but no running water.

The last class of children to attend it was in 1942, and it only has one surviving student left alive today (it was a six-mile round-trip on foot when she was a first-grader in the mid-1930s).
